about us brian (country mouse) is from new hampshire. karel (city girl) is from the new york metro area. in summer 2008 they drove across the US and moved to portland, oregon. here are their adventures, photos, and observations.
I must apologize to everyone who has been looking here and wondered why I haven't made a post in a long time. There are many reasons but time is the biggest. Karel and I are moving in 2 weeks and in the last couple weeks we were looking at places and visiting them. We have been cleaning up. A big time consumer for me lately has been my involvement with rainbow. I've finally been able to pick up there after some time of struggling to get anything done. Now I have Karel helping me so I feel much better about visiting houses and people.
I'm not ashamed to admit it but I suck at communicating with strangers and I'm nearly worthless as a salesman. These are 2 things Karel is fantastic with. And since I understand the machine and can explain technical stuff about it together we are a good team combining skills where the other struggles.
I play kickball every Sunday and Karel and I bowl Wednesday nights so that absorbs some time.
Luna also needs attention so that takes more time.
I took a couple days composing new stuff on my photo website and got some new pictures up there. I was going to send a big email out to everyone but I wanted to wait until I loaded a bunch of other photos on my Flickr page but haven't had enough time yet. So you can check out some new photos on brianhinz.com there are new birds (bushtit,Stellar Jay,a couple ducks) some family and friend photos and some small animal shots as well.
Now I am quite tired. We had a double header for kickball today and not to sound like I'm bragging but I was whoopin' ass in the outfield and running like nuts around the bases. Also I biked a couple miles to the field and back.
I tried to give Karel some more manual transmission driving lessons this morning and after about 10 minutes we got booted out of the parking lot we were in. A huge problem out here is that there is NOWHERE to practice driving because the schools mostly don't have parking lots and if they do they are tiny. Most businisses with large lots are places like wal-mart and such. There's nothing like Timken or Markem to practice in so this sucks.
On another note I got a call today from a girl interested in Luna. She is coming over tomorrow with her sisters dog to make sure they are compatible play buddies. I hope that she works out because it's getting close to move time and I would like Luna to have a good place to be very soon. I don't know what to do if I can't find a place for her before the move. I'll keep you all posted.
Ok I am going to sleepy land now, I'm wiped out! I'll try hard to get my Flickr page loaded with photos in the coming week. -brian-
