some current events
First item of discussion is Luna!
Yes she did recognize me and slathered me with excited sloppy kisses. She then gave Karel sloppy excited kisses as well and behaved like the good girl she is. She is doing very well with her new home and parents and also her new play buddy. I was able to see her this past Sunday after my kickball game (where I blasted 2 sweet home runs!) and got some pictures of her.

Anna has got her a backpack that right now is being used for training and also a way to tire Luna out. She is going to be a backpacking dog and will carry her own food and water when going on hikes. Now she carries it around with a water bottle on each side and this causes her to tire faster and I know that is a good thing! Luna has become accepted by the other dog Gwen and are now great buddies who play lots together and share not just sleeping space but food and water dishes also.
I am still sad that I let her go but I am happy that she is in a wonderful home with people who can and do spend lots of time with her. When the time comes that I can have a dog I'll make sure to find one just like her.
Item #2 is our apartment.
We have settled in and cleaned up! Here are 3 pictures of our "living space".

Basically the first picture is the most exciting part of the apartment. The tv and entertainment including DVD, computer, stereo system, Wii, and PS2 hiding inside the drawer.
The middle picture is our couch that I recently found out is brown. Me being colorblind causes me to make a fool of myself sometimes. Mom, do you remember that fuzzy shirt I had that was purple and the whole time I thought it was gray? Well when I look at the couch it's a weird shade of purple. I don't know how I get this color problem because I am red/green colorblind. Whatever, it happens. I frequently ask random people when I am buying clothes what color the item is if it's a questionable shade for me. I'm not ashamed because at least I won't buy a purple shirt thinking it's gray.
Last picture is our eating zone. We decided to do away with our dining table set because it's more than we need and space here is tight. We have a breakfast bar open to the kitchen and are using that for our eating space. We scored the bar stools cheap from Ikea, and there is a story with that. Karel was bored and happened to look at the Ikea website and found they were having these stools on sale for $20 each (normally $70) 1 day only. We were just talking about getting bar stools and losing the table the day before. Wow! But even better was a letter from my aunt Pauline we got the next day that had $20 in it and a note saying "here's $20 use it to buy something for your apartment". How perfect indeed!
Item #3 and most exciting (for me anyway)
I've never owned a "road bike" because I never had a need for one living in Keene,NH. Now that I am in Portland there is a lot more pavement to cover and I have realized that even though I bought road tires for my mountain bike, it's still heavy and tires me out when I ride far. I needed a light road bike with skinny tires so I could ride these long distances and not feel like I've been riding in the woods all day. This item is in my possession thanks to my aunt Pauline who loaned me the $$ temporarily because I didn't want to wait. I happened to be looking for bikes just to get a feel for what I was going to need to spend and what was available and I stumbled upon this beauty at a used bike shop. It truly was a great find. The frame fits me perfect, it's very light, and it's a quality built machine from Specialized, the same company that made my 2 other bikes I use for abusive trail riding.

Subject #4
I am fortunate to be working for the company that I do. For the last 2 months business has been very slow and has caused me to work much less hours which was what urged me to decide on looking for a more affordable place to live to begin with. Every week I was having entire days off and short days and my paychecks were looking depressing. My manager didn't want me to try and collect unemployment and also try to work days that we had something to do so she offered me 32 hours pay each week no matter how many hours under 32 I work until business picks up again and I can work a full 40+ hour week. This is amazing news because I was working 20 hour weeks and freaking out! Now when they tell me I have nothing to do it's ok because I'm getting paid.
The end.

Did Luna recognize you?
the apartment looks great. and luna looks so happy!
Luna looks ready for hiking! I thought your couch was blue, so I will have to go look at older pictures to see why I thought that. Brian, the picture on here of the couch looks like it has a deep purple tone to the brown. All colors have different hues so you might pick up on the underlying or base colors (not even sure if I'm describing this right...consult your local artist). For example, I can't wear green...true green, or a yellowish green, but I can wear teal and aqua. As long as it has a blue base, I'm ok. Does that make sense or I have confused you more?
I like your barstools...I had wanted to do that here with the wall between the kitchen and dining room. It would open the house up more too.
Hope work picks up soon. Love you both, Mom
Luna does look happy and with a very loving family. It is nice that you get to see her. The apartment is looking great. Enjoy your bike riding. Enjoy your days off from work because I'm sure it will pick up when AC season starts and ou will be busy. Love to you both. Aunt Pauline
